SESSIONS: One Oregon Morning With Taylor Tice

The Inertia

Surfing Oregon. The phrase sounds like a novelty unto itself. But that’s not entirely true anymore. Surf culture in Oregon has changed rapidly as the pursuit has grown in the Pacific Northwest. The state, and the region, is now home to more than a few talented surfers – thanks, in part, to an abundance of resources. Surfers like Taylor Tice, part of the healthy Newport fabric, along with brother Trevor, and dad Mike. All of whom have surfed competitively at a high level.

That’s why I asked Casey Felton, one of the premier surf filmers from the area, to spend a morning with Taylor to create one of our SESSIONS. Casey put together our HOMETOWN HYPE film on Newport last fall and it was a gem.

This time, Casey decided to fly his drone at a Central Oregon staple and get personal with Taylor during his morning routine. The waves looked so fun, and Taylor, currently competing on the Qualifying Series, put his solid rail game to work on some open walls. Makes you wanna go surf, right?

That’s what SESSIONS is all about. Quick edits. No BS. Our favorite surfers, riding their favorite boards at their favorite spots. You can find more of them here. But in the meantime, enjoy some clean love from Oregon.
