If you are Jordy Smith, you are not short on great waves ridden. You have ridden more great waves than 99.9 percent of the rest of the world, but that doesn’t mean you don’t love them just as much. It could be argued that someone like Jordy Smith could love riding great waves even more than the rest of the world, since the rest of the world can’t ride those great waves nearly as well as someone like Jordy Smith.
But even Jordy Smith can appreciate the wonders of a session packed with barrels. Especially if that session is surfed basically alone. And when he recently paddled out at Scottburgh Beach on KwaZulu-Natal’s southern coast, he had just that.
Scottburgh’s Main Beach does, as you can see here, offer up some supremely good waves. When it’s firing this hard, though, it’s not a place for everyone. It is, however, a place for Jordy Smith.
“Scoring uncrowded waves for hours in Durban South Africa,” he wrote. After watching the footage… well, there’s not much else to say.
