Kelly Slater and D-Bah Rights Are Still a Good Combo

The Inertia

Kelly Slater is at home on Australia’s Gold Coast. He’s won the Championship Tour stop there six times over the course of his illustrious career. He’s bought a home there, and even when he isn’t visiting for competition, he clearly still enjoys passing through.

So it’s no surprise to catch a Kelly Slater sighting in town around the swell window for the Gold Coast Pro. During his latest trip, he paddled out into some fun-looking rights off the jetty at Duranbah, just around the corner from Snapper Rocks. He rode his Slater Designs DRK model, shaped by Dan Mann, completely devoid of stickers in his post-competition (retirement) phase — save for an Outerknown logo near the nose.

At 54, Slater isn’t prime “Ke11y,” but he’s still so fun to watch on a canvas like this.
