John John Florence and Nathan Florence are good at doing ocean-related things. Surfing, first and foremost, but they’re all-around watermen. In recent years, they’ve taken up foiling. It’s a fast-growing sport that’s way harder than it looks, and Lift Foils is at the tip of the spear. Which is why Lift has collaborated with the Florence brothers, and their shaper, John Pyzel, the last couple of years.
“John and Nathan are legendary watermen and legendary surfers and absolutely obsessed foilers,” said Lift’s Nick Leason. “Pyzel is a legendary board shaper who has been working with John and Nathan Florence for their whole lives. These guys represent the best of the best in the world of surfing and foiling, and we are very privileged to be working with them this year.”
When they all put their heads together for the latest dealings, they came up with a 4’7″ that’s 49 liters. Although they’re basically made for most conditions, the Florence brothers are very much interested in the downwinding aspect of foiling.
“Their passion really does lie in that open-ocean surfing; open-ocean exploration,” Leason continued. “They wanted a product that was performance oriented but also inclusive for all their friends and new people who go out and enjoy that aspect of the ocean with them.”
Pyzel also collaborated on a 6’0″ surf/open-ocean combo board with Lift and the Florences over the last two years.
