Film premiere season in the world of snow is a great thing. Unlike most other outdoor sports, the majority of skiers and snowboarders endure entire seasons without the opportunity to enjoy their pursuit. It creates this perfect little sweet spot once fall hits, where hype and excitement meet in celebration of what’s to come. The air gets cooler, the days get shorter, and Opening Day is circled on the calendar. That’s why new takes on the powder day, or hiking for backcountry lines hits like a ton of bricks. Euphoric bricks.
The 2026 Pangea Freeride Film Tour is one event this season capturing that spirit. It will feature seven independent films about athletes, the Freeride World Tour, powder days, and the people and communities surrounding them.
“There are so many great independent ski and snowboard films being made every year that deserve to be celebrated,” said Ethan Herman, Creative Director of Pangea Collective. “The Freeride Film Tour is about bringing the athletes, filmmakers, and local mountain communities together to experience them on the big screen.”
This year’s lineup includes:
Thank You For Playing, about two skiers on a Japan tour who discover a mysterious arcade prize that “sends their luck into opposite directions.”
Guiada por El Fuego profiles Freeride World Tour athlete, Isi Assler. The 32-year-old Chilean snowboarder is also the film’s director.
The Lost Winter features Holden Samuels, who chases winter down south to the Andes after the miserable season we all experienced back home.
9 Days in Japan: Trevor Kennison was paralyzed in a snowboarding accident more than a decade ago. He’s still a powder hound though. This flick follows him chasing it deep in the mountains of Hokkaido.
Uncle Timmy, whom we all know as professional snowboarder Timm Schrödder, sits down to tell his best friend’s children tales of a world championship title, hard slams, and real losses. Truth and tall-tale blur here.
Ripple features Britta Winans & Delila Quinn sitting by the lake that raised them and reminiscing about lives dedicated to freeride skiing – ultimately questioning the meaning of it all.
The 4th Prime features Dane Tudor, who is still pushing his limits and evolving at 37.
